my Life Planner

There are two things that are usually plastered on me:  my sunglasses and my planner.
I don't know what it is, but if I am without them, I get all frazzled.  The cover of my planner was torn off, so I decided that I would take the opportunity to put my life into my phone.  Now, the phone is usually not far away, so to most of you this wouldn't pose a problem.  In fact, most people prefer to not lug around a paper calendar. But not this mama.  I have tried for almost a month now to "go paperless" with my calendar, but I feel lost.  If you aren't a paper calendar person, you just won't get it.
Since my planner was missing the cover, I knew I needed to get a new planner where the pages wouldn't rip, etc.  I've been looking - no honestly, I have.  And I just haven't found what I want.  And then yesterday, Lindsey, posted about a deal on Plum District.  A $50 voucher to Erin Condren, for only $25!!  That's 50% off people!  I just purchased my voucher and ordered my very own Life Planner!
I seriously am tickled pink!  My *personalized* planner will ship by August 9!  At which point I will use my little "track your package app" on my phone and hit reload a million times until I have my delivery in my own hands! :)
So, I will post a picture of my new Life Planner when I get it! :)
It's the little things in life that make me happy!!!

Got Swabbed?

My 11 month old niece, Kate, is fighting for her life.  At the beginning of June, Kate was diagnosed with a rare bone marrow failure.  The only cure is a total bone marrow transplant.  After testing, we have learned that Lindsey & Alex are not matches for Kate.  This means that her second chance of life will come from a perfect stranger.  Years ago, Kate's chance of finding a match would be close to impossible, but thanks to DKMS there is hope.
There are thousands of patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases who are depending on finding a matching donor who can give them a second chance at life.  There are millions on the registry but only 4 out of 10 patients find their match; that means 6 our of 10 patients NEVER receive the lifesaving transplant they need.
We are talking life or death.  The donor process is very simple and what a huge reward to know that YOU saved someone's life.

Head over to Lindsey's blog to read Kate's story and find out exactly how you can make a difference!!

Back in the game

After some major arm twisting, side nudging, eyelash batting, adult whining, I decided that I would get back to the blogging world.
The kids do so many "blogworthy" things, and I could kick myself in the hiney for not writing all of their -isms down.  Now, there is no excuse.
So where did I leave off?  Oh yeah - at Miles coming home from the NICU two and a half years ago.  WOW.  Let's see, quick recap: Graham is 4, Miles is 2, Jeff is still older than me, and I am still in my 20's.  :)  We are still in Ocala and loving it.  We have an awesome church family, and after 3.5 years (has it been that long??) I finally feel like we have found our niche.  In February, I started a new job at a hospital here in Ocala and I.love.it.  More than I love a St@rbucks skinny vanilla latte, or new fabric, or a fresh pedi, or feathers in hair.  I mean, I love it.  It's so nice being on a normal schedule again -like Monday - Friday.
Graham is known as the school Mayor, he knows everything about everyone.  I wonder who he gets that from?  Graham is pretty much a mini-me.  :)  Except he loves Star Wars, and well, I just don't get it.  He's a master Lego builder, great little artist, a space nerd expert...no seriously - he can tell you who walked on the moon, how many missions have taken place, and that when a space shuttle comes back to Earth it creates sonic booms.
Miles, well, he's a goober and a half!  He is as funny as they come!  He has no fears except for costume characters that cross his personal bubble line, and just last week was the first Rogers' child to require stitches.  He didn't just need stitches, the child is now established at the plastic surgeon's office.  He managed to gash his lip/mouth open while pushing a toy at school.  He whimpered when the doctor washed his boo boo out, but laid perfectly still through the numbing shots and the stitching.  The other morning at breakfast Miles said "Miles can't eat oatmeal, it hurts my lip.  I need Cheetos."  How do 2 year olds know how to manipulate?  geez.  He has also informed us that "Broccoli has eggs.  Eggs hurt Miles stomach.  Miles can't eat broccoli."  I'm sorry dude, but Broccoli wasn't anywhere on the list of "foods to avoid with an egg allergy".
Jeff still works at the church and plays guitar.  Oh, and if you ever need a Disney vacation planner, he's your man.  I'm seriously going to apply for DisneyMoms for him.  He could put all of the other women to shame with his Disney planning tips.
I guess that's a good recap.  I hope that you stick around and that you'll find yourself at home here.  After all, I'm a barefoot kinda gal.  So kick your shoes off, relax, and come on in and make yourself at home.
Welcome to the neighborhood!
